In our 11th episode of "Conversations with Kris," I had the pleasure of speaking with my friend of 30+ years, John Sloan, about his journey in overcoming addiction.
Throughout the episode, John and I discussed the challenges of addiction and the steps one can take to overcome it. He shared his own experiences with addiction and the turning point that led him to seek help. We also discussed the importance of seeking professional help and building a strong support system to aid in the recovery process. For him, it is a place we both find solace in, CrossFit Port Orange.
John emphasized the importance of self-awareness and the ability to recognize the signs of addiction before it spirals out of control. He stressed the need for individuals to take responsibility for their actions and be open to receiving help from others.
One of the key takeaways from our conversation was the idea that addiction does not define a person. John stressed that individuals can overcome addiction and lead fulfilling lives with the proper support and resources.
Overall, it was an enlightening conversation with John, and I hope that our discussion can help those who are struggling with addiction or know someone who is. Remember, recovery is possible, and there is no shame in seeking help.
